Careers Programme Information

Lighthouse School is working towards the Gatsby benchmarks that enables the school to meet all statutory government guidelines on careers education.

The eight Gatsby benchmarks of Good Career Guidance:

  • A stable careers programme
  • Learning from career and labour market information
  • Addressing the needs of each pupil
  • Linking curriculum learning to careers
  • Encounters with employers and employees
  • Experience of workplaces
  • Encounters with further and higher education
  • Personal guidance

Throughout Key Stage 4 and 5 students will have the opportunity to take advantage of numerous careers activities and work experience where appropriate. Every student will have an interview with our specialist careers advisor to give them bespoke guidance and help students to make choices about their future career aspirations. We are delighted that 100% of the school’s 2018 leavers are in FE College, internships or employment.

Key Staff: Michelle Hoole – Assistant Principal (PDBW and Post 16) and Deborah Laycock – Careers Advisor
