Lighthouse Careers Programme

Lighthouse School is working towards the Gatsby benchmarks that enables the school to meet all statutory government guidelines on careers education.

The eight Gatsby benchmarks of Good Careers Guidance:

  • A stable careers programme
  • Learning from careers and labour market information
  • Addressing the needs of each pupil
  • Linking curriculum learning to careers
  • Encounters with employers and employees
  • Experience of workplaces
  • Encounters with further and higher education
  • Personal guidance

Throughout Key Stage 4 and 5, students will have the opportunity to take advantage of numerous careers activities and work experience where appropriate. Every student will have an interview with out specialist careers advisor to give them bespoke guidance and help students to make choices about their future career aspirations.

Measuring Impact

From September 2019, we will be using the uExplore Start system to monitor our careers programme and its impact on our students. This will be reported to the Student Family and Staff Committee termly.

We are delighted that 100% of the schools 2018 leavers have progressed to FE College, internships or employment.
